GARDENING GUIDE
Low-Light Plants
Low-light tolerant does not mean no-light. Even shade-adapted houseplants require usable light for photosynthesis.
Understand low light
Low-light plants grow more slowly and usually use water more slowly than the same plant in brighter conditions.
Avoid overwatering
When growth slows, constantly wet soil can become a larger risk. Check moisture before watering.
Rotate for even growth
Plants near a single light source can lean or grow unevenly. Gentle rotation can help presentation.
Add light when needed
If a room is truly dark, a suitable grow light may be more realistic than choosing a plant that will slowly decline.
Plant-safety note: Plant toxicity varies by species and may affect pets or children. Verify the exact botanical species before placing a plant where ingestion is possible.
